How to find ECID when you are not jailbroken?? No DFU mode required.
Hi friends,
You all are here to know the ECID of your iDevice to help you to save SHSH blobs or to downgrade your firmware version. But if you are on iOS 6.1.3/4 you cannot jailbreak your iPhone/iPod and you can't know your ECID without DFU. But if you have a broken home button or a broken sleep/wake button, you might find this tutorial helpful. Please give me a +1 if it helps you cause it will be helpful for me.
If you are Jailbroken you can try this tutorial because it will help you within a dash. Click here for tutorial of Jailbroken devices.
Requirements:
redsn0w jailbreak tool
iDevice with USB connector.
Redsn0w is a multi-purpose jailbreak tool. You can dowload it from here.
Step 1: Extract your redsn0w file using 7zip, Winrar or WinZip. Extract it to a location of your choice. If you don't have a software to extract, use a Shareware or a Freeware from those present on the Internet. After Extracting proceed to next step.
Step 2: Connect your iDevice to the computer using the USB cable. Connect your iPod, iPhone or iPad to the computer using the USB cable and wait for the computer to show up your device. Once your computer shows up your device continue to next step.
Step 3: Open the folder and right click on the redsn0w.exe file and click on Run as Administrator. (Windows Feature) The screen will go dark and a popup will come up asking for permission. Click Yes to continue. Running the program as Administrator will help the program to access root files and finish the work without any error or complications.
Step 4: Redsn0w will open at the default page with two options - Jailbreak and Extras. Click on Extras to continue the tutorial. You can try the other options at your own risk and if you are not sure what they mean, better Google for more info. They can be a bit risky so you should try them at your own risk.
Step 5: Click on Even More in the Extras menu and click on Preferences from the Even More menu. There you will see a bit of options and some checkboxes. Here also you will a lot of options and don't disturb one until you know what you're doing. Proceed to the next step.
Step 6: Click on the check box Show ECID in hexadecimal. If you don't check this box you will see your ECID in decimal form. Now click on the ECIDs option and you will see your ECID preceded by 0x and succeeded by 0x0. The middle portion is what is your device's ECID. You can see the figures for more information.
You have your ECID now. You can use it for downgrade or to save SHSH blobs from Cydia.
Don't forget to +1 the page and share it to help someone else like you. Comment any questions you have below and I'll be happy to answer them.
Thanks,
